Mushrooms

In addition to white mushrooms and portobello, in MERCAJUCAR we have the most important varieties of mushrooms that exist in the market, highlighting the Common Mushroom (pleorotus) and the increasingly recognized Shiitake (lentinulaedodes).

Oyster Mushrooms

The common mushroom (pleorotus) or ‘oyster mushroom’ characterised by its usual greyish colour has a firm flesh, sweet taste and a pleasant smell.

It is a food highly valued for its nutritional qualities with a great contribution of phosphorus, potassium and selenium (which helps protect our body against cancer), this mushroom has a high content of polysaccharides and is a source of fiber and carbohydrates that help regulate intestinal transit.

Shiitake

The shiitake is a mushroom from Asia that is each day more present in the gastronomy. Its consumption for centuries in many Asian countries has resulted in countless ways of preparing this mushroom, fresh, roast, cook… a delicious mushroom with possibilities to surprise us on every occasion.

In addition, shiitake is attributed to multiple therapeutic qualities, among other reasons, its contribution of lentinum, a polysaccharide to which several studies attribute antitumor qualities.
